Dutch water companies do not strive for enlargement of profit. If the WMD earns money on this project we will plough it back into the project again. The rate charged for drinking water in Indonesia will have to cover the costs.
The basic assumption is the public utilities principle, without distinction of culture and religion. The expectation is that the companies will be on their feet again within fifteen years and will be able to buy the WMD out. That will be done at net book value in local currency. This money will be largely put back into new water projects. There is no question of "investments" in the commercial sense of the word. The activities of WMD in Indonesia are part of a new form of making development projects possible.
